Guardian Elves

Shoun glared:
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't leave?!"

Mereneth stared blankly at him, still blushing. "Ah...w-well...I..." she bit her bottom lip and looked down. "Because...I don't want you to go..." she muttered silently.

Suddenly Shoun felt his cheeks blushing, as hope swelled his heart, and love melted his soul...
"Why? I'm not that close to you."

Mereneth blushed. "I-I know!!! I mean...well...you're...a great friend..." she muttered, twisting her hands together, getting really embarrassed. "And...yeah...." she muttered, looking down.

Shoun smiled as he took her hand:
"You're a great friend too...I'm lucky to have you."
They stared at each other for a few seconds, until Shoun released her hand, and asked:
"Mind telling me who doesn't trust me?"

Mereneth laughed a little. "I'd rather not tell...I mean...if you know what I mean." she swallowed. "It's not one of my parents, just to let you know that." she mumbled. 

Shoun hummed in understanding:
"It's one of your sisters, isn't it? I suspected as much...especially the youngest one, Monique--she doesn't strike me as the trusting type."
His blue eyes met Mereneth's:
"I've got to warn you--she's doing something that she shouldn't be doing, and it's going to get you all in trouble. I don't know WHAT it is, but I KNOW what she's up to is in direct disobedience to your parents," He chuckled: "Since I had a younger sister, I could always tell when she was up to something wrong."

Mereneth's eyes widened. "W-what?! What is she doing?" she laughed a little. "I'm really bad at finding out these things." she looked down at the floor. "But I wonder what she's doing..."

Shoun shrugged:
"I don't know...is she in her room? She might've snuck out."

Mereneth sighed. "She should be. She told me that she was going to bed." she stood up and grabbed the candle. "I'm gonna go check." she muttered.

"Can I come?" Shoun quipped: "After all, it's not like I'm going anywhere."

Mereneth sighed. "Sure! Why not?" she laughed a little. "But we have to be quiet." she whispered, walking out of the library and out into the hall. She glanced down the hallways, which were almost pitch black except her candle. "It's this way." she whispered, walking down a hall.

They both crept quietly down the hall; Shoun quietly took advantage of the situation by staying as close to her as he could. He softly breathed in her perfume, and pratically melted at its sweet fragance as he thought:
"Everything about her is gorgeous...she even SMELLS beautiful." He suddenly sighed as he thought again: "If only I were the one she was interested in--good luck to me. It's pure wishful thinking to believe she could fall for me."

Monique ran back for all of it was worth! If someone found her bed full of pillows, instead of her, she was in BIG trouble!

Mereneth walked down the hallway, then stopped at Monique's room. "Well, here we are." she whispered. She handed the candle over to Shoun, then grabbed the door handle and quietly opened the door, sticking her head in. It was dark, so she couldn't see much inside the room, but she did see a form on the bed under the covers. Mereneth smiled and closed the door, then turned around facing Shoun and sighed of relief. "She's in bed."

Just then, they heard footsteps.
They looked up, and saw a form in the hall...
"Hello Mereneth!" Monique's voice squeaked nervously: wow was her timing baaaad.

Mereneth looked over and blinked. "M-Monique?" she glanced back at her door, then at her sister. "Wait...I thought you were sleeping...in there..." she pointed to her room, then squinted her eyes at Monique. "Where did you go?"

"Um..." Monique hummed, avoiding the question: "Out."
She tried to slip past her sister.

Mereneth smirked and held out her hand, stopping her sister. "Monique tell me!"

"I went to see a friend," She skidded around the question again: "We were making plans for a sleep-over this weekend."
Monique swallowed as Shoun's eyes pierced hers; Mereneth was pretty gullible, but Shoun wasn't.

Mereneth gasped. "Oh really?!" she grinned. "Awesome! Who is it?"

"Yes," Shoun added: "I'd like to know too, Monique."
Monique felt sweat bead down her face:
"She is new here--you wouldn't know her," She stretched her arms, and yawned: "Let's get some sleep."

Mereneth smiled. "Okay!! Make sure you introduce me to her!" she took the candle from Shoun and walked down the hall. "Night!"

Monique breathed out a sigh of relief as she went to bed.
Wow--she just lied to her sister, and their new friend--what's come over her?

Peter skulked his way back to camp, and spotted the Ice Witch.
"Your highness," He addressed her, as he bowed low: "I need to speak with his eminence immediately!"

The Ice Witch crossed her arms and looked coldly at him. "Who are you again?" she muttered, squinting her eyes. 

Peter winced in anger; he hated kissing up to this chick.
"Peter Hampton, malady."
