Guardian Elves

Natas' eyes glowed with interest:
"King? You mean Boaz Garamond?"

Shoun smiled as he chewed, and shrugged:
"Same here...I've already told everything about me, really."
"Well," His thoughts sighed: "Not quite everything...maybe--no, I can't tell them. It's too painful."
He had a second helping of potatoes, and eggs, and then sat back. He made a small sigh of contentment as he stretched.
You could tell he hadn't eaten like that in a long time, and he was glad that he had such a grand meal.
"Erm," He began, unsurely: "If I'm going to be staying here--where am I staying?"

Natas smiled for the first time in their conversation...
"Thank you, Ice-Witch..." His smile broadened, revealing his fangs that glimmered in anticipation to taste flesh: "I believe I've just come up with a plan...and you completed the first half." He looked into her eyes: "Well done."

Shoun found himself smiling around her...he didn't know why, but there was a warmth about this girl he hadn't found in any other--except his sister.
He looked significantly sadder--yes Mereneth was a great reflection of his sister.

"Shadow Wraith," Natas addressed the ghost that Shoun had chased.
"Yes?"
"Are you aware that elves can die of heartbreak?"
"Yes sir, I am aware of that."
"Do you think it's possible to kill two birds with one stone?"
"Yes..."The Wraith frowned in confusion: "What do you mean?"
Natas smiled:
"Let me tell you."

Shoun hummed as he was drawn out of his deep thoughts.
"Yes...I'm a little tired," He responded, putting on a smile. It was true--he was very tired from traveling, and carrying the burden of grief.
Without another word, Shoun walked into his room, and went to bed.

Mereneth nodded slowly and watched him go, then sighed and went to her own room.

After an hour, Monique's teacher told her she could go on break (with the understanding Monique CAME BACK from her break).
She wondered into Mereneth's room, and noticed that she wasn't skipping or twirling merrily about like she usually was.
"Mereneth, what's wrong, dear?"

Mereneth looked up from her book, laying on her stomach on her bed. "Hm?" she grinned. "Oh it's nothing. Just really into this book." she sighed. She knew her sister could tell straight through her. "Alright...when I took Shoun to his room, he seemed lost in his thoughts...and really sad-like also. It worries me."

"Sad?" Monique echoed: "Lost in thought? Did he tell you anything?" She winked as she grinned mischievously: "Boys tend to tell you EVERYTHING about themselves, if you haven't noticed."

Mereneth rolled her eyes and giggled. "No, he didn't tell me." she marked her page and closed her book, sighing. "I hope it's nothing I did to offend him or make him upset in any way." she mumbled to herself, getting up and going over to the window, looking out across the valley. 

"He's probably stupidly in love with you, and that's why he didn't say anything," Monique giggled: "He thinks you're beautiful as he should."
"Someone should rename you Aphrodite, Monique," Merineth commented as she glided into the room: "You're determined to hook up everyone."
Monique grinned:
"Is that a bad thing? Besides, Mereneth needs a nice boy like Shoun. They'd make such a cute couple."

Mereneth blushed a little and looked at her sister. "As much as I think you're a really good sister, I do not want you to try hook us up!" she laughed. "Please." Mereneth sighed and looked back out the window. She knew her sister wouldn't listen. 

Monique pouted cutely:
"Awwww PLEASE consider liking him? I mean DID YOU SEE HIS FIGURE?!?"
She squealed like a fan-girl as Merienth whispered:
"Monique..."
"HE IS SOOOOO HANDSOME," Monique went on ignoring Merineth.
"Monique!" Mereneth pleaded, blushing.
Monique continued, gleefully:
"How could you NOT like him?! How could you NOT want me to hook you up??"
"MONIQUE!" Merineth grabbed her sister's shoulder, and jerked her head to the side.
Monique looked behind her to see an extremely embarrassed Shoun Galuverior.
He laughed nervously:
"I see I came at a--strange time? I'll go now..."

Mereneth turned four different shades of red all at once. "I....uh..." she laughed a little. She had no clue what to say. "I...."

Monique grinned:
"Do you like my sister? I'd think you'd make a nice pair." :3
Merineth slapped Monique's shoulder as she whined:
"WHAT?!"
Shoun ran down the hall, without another word.

Mereneth glared at her sister and she ran by her and out in the corridoor. "Wait!!! SHOUN!!" she sighed. "Great."

Monique started giggling:
"Awwww, you DO like him!"

Mereneth went down the opposite way of the corridoor without another word. She sighed. She wasn't exactly mad at her sister...just annoyed.

Shoun watch Mereneth from a distance. He stared at her for a little while; he couldn't help thinking how beautiful she is.
He shook his head, as he came out of the shadows, and quipped:
"Is it safe?"

Mereneth jumped a little and sighed. "Uh...yeah...sorry about that." she mumbled, still blushing a little. I wonder how much he heard...

Shoun shrugged:
"I have a little sister, so I know what it's like to be teased..." His voice trailed off: "I mean HAD a sister--" He muttered to himself: "I wish she was still here to tease me."

Mereneth's eyes widened. "What?" she whispered. "I-I'm so sorry to hear that!"

"It was years ago," Shoun added turning his back to her; his eyes were filling up with tears: "I'm over it now--mostly..."
"That Shadow Wraith WILL PAY for taking away my family!" Shoun's thoughts brooded angrily

Mereneth stood there silently. She didn't really know what to do since she wasn't like a close friend to him. "I'm...very sorry."
