Days of the End

The four of them all walked to Jed's office. "No sign of freak boy" Lazareth thought as he scanned the streetsin search of Ivan.

Ivy and Kanon would ride together, while Lazereth and Akito would ride their own horses. They all got on their horses, and began to ride away...
Ivan smiled as he looked at his remote--he waited until they were about 5 miles away from the city to start his pursuit.
Then, upon the back of his pure-black steed, they rode after their prey...

An hour or two into their trip Lazareth sensed a familure presence. "Is it him?" Lazareth wondered.

Ivan was very careful to stay out of sight, but he sensed that some of them suspected they were being followed.
"Whoa..." He whispered to his horse, who's eyes flashed a blood-red; it didn't like being slowed down: "Slowly, my pet, slowly..."

Ivy's horse was acting strange; it kept snorting, and shaking it's mane like it had some irksome tick refusing to let go.
Kanon noticed it first:
"Your horse is acting weird, Ivy..."

Lazareth called his to a stop and motioned for Ivy to do the same. He got off and walked over to Ivy's, who was throwing it's head about more franticly now. Lazareth examined it's main, and then saw something suspicouse, a gold pin. "Well hello, what do we have here?" He plucked it from the horse and it wineed in pain. "I don't know what this is, but I have a fealling I know who is responsible for this." Lazareth chuked the small device into the sand. "We had best make ground fast. I have a fealing we have some one on our tail." He said as he mounted hisself on his horse. "Are you sure?" Akito asked, trying to kill his suspision. "Yes... I'm sure, I have felt his presence for some time... and so let's move." He taped his heals against his horse and they were off.

Everyone else rode ahead, except Akito...she stared at the gold-pin; she had the feeling she knew who it was from...
She looked around, and dismounted her horse, and stared at it some more.
"The offer is still open..." She heard Ivan's voice echo in her head...
"Why hello there," Akito suddenly heard Ivan's voice for real this time.
She snapped her head to him, as he smiled slyly:
"I see your boyfriend found my present...are you going to be a dear, and pretend you didn't know it was me, and that we "accidentally run into each other" later, or are you going to ride ahead with your friends?"

Lazareth looked around to see if Akito was still with them. "Akito? Where is she?" He could not see her, "Did she fall behind." Lazareth had no clue what had happened to her, but he was worried. He did not want his friend to be off and alone in the dessert. "Ivy! So you know where Akito is?" He called over to her. "No, I don't! Do you think she is ok?" Ivy yelled back. "I don't know..." Lazareth said to himself. A part of him wanted to turn back and look for her, but another part of him felt he should move on. Just as he decided to turn back he saw her riding to them.

Ivan grinned as he smirked at his own cleverness:
"I knew Akito would see things my way...she's too predictable."
So, Ivan kept following them until night-fall, and until they made camp...

As Ivy started the fire, she heard the sound of hooves stomping the desert sand...
"What is that?" Kanon asked, sounded really creeped out.
"I've no idea," Akito said abruptly; she avoided everyone's eye contact as Ivy looked in the distance.
"It's Ivan," Ivy groaned quietly: "How'd he find us?"

"I knew it... that device was his. But how did he find us this far away from it?" Lazareth sneered as Ivan drew near. "I swear if he says just one word to Ivy, I'm going to knock out at least half his teeth."

"MY!" Ivan cried happily: "What an amazing coincidence to find you here!"
Ivy tried to hide behind Akito, and Kanon stood in front of her sister:
"Hello Kanon," He nodded to her: "HI Akito," He grinned, and finally he dismounted his horse, and chimed to Ivy: "And is that the Ivy the beautiful hiding behind you two?"
"Leave my sister ALONE, scum-bucket!" Kanon barked: "She doesn't want to see you, or can you take a hint?"
"My, my we're all feisty aren't we...except for you, Akito," His eyes met hers, and she looked away: "Strangely enough."

Lazareth stood up and walked over to him "Hey leave them be. If you didn't notice no one wants you here. So make like a tree and leave"

Ivan crossed his arms, and planted his feet as he scowled:
"Make me, solider boy."

Lazareth looked Ivan straight in the eyes "Oh so help me, if you don't remove yourself from my site in these next two seconds I will make you."

Ivan laughed as he raised his fists:
"Take your best shot, I dare you!"

Lazareth jerked his arm back "Ok..." and then he shot his fist forward rigth into Ivans Jaw. Ivan fell back against the floor, his mouth bleeding. "I have been waiting to do that all day." Lazareth said as he shook his fist "Been a while since I used my bare hands... he has a hard face"

Ivan spat up a ton of blood, as his eyes flamed in anger...but he refrained.
"I've been foolish," He responded as he wiped his mouth: "I apologize...may I stay if I promise to not make anymore trouble? On my honor, I swear I won't."

Lazareth looked at him, his eyes still flaring with anger. He turned without answereing him at first. "What you do is none of my bussiness.Just keep away from Ivy."

Ivan smiled:
"With pleasure."
"The fool," he thought to himself: "He doesn't know that I have resources in his camp now--one of his oldest and dearest friends. Isn't it lovely how love-sickness can be used to my advantage?"
Ivy glared at Ivan as he came over to her. He got down on one knee, and bowed his head:
"Forgive me, Ivy. I shouldn't have interfered with you and Lazereth--I promise I won't anymore...can you ever forgive me?"
Ivy rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms:
"Forgive you yes, trust you, not yet."
He looked into her eyes; full of sadness.
"I understand...I'll do my best to regain trust in all of you."

Lazareth sat by Ivy, leaning against her back, he did not want to look in that scums direction, but he wanted to be close to Ivy. "Youll never earn my trust, and I pray that Ivy too would be wiser than to trust you."

Ivy held Lazereth's hand tightly, as she kept a weary eye on Ivan. There was something wrong with him--cold shivers ran down her spine as she looked into his eyes.
Yes...there wasn't only something WRONG...
There was something EVIL.

Lazareth held Ivy's hand tightly, he was frustrated, but the feeling of Ivy's touch calmed him. "I don't like him... I don't like this Ivan one bit. And if he does anything to hurt my Ivy I will kill him."

Akito sat by the fire cross-legged and stared blankly into it, then sighed.

Lazareth noticed Akito's depressed look and called over to her. "What's wrong Akito?"

Akito looked around and gave him a smile. "Ah, it's nothing!" she laughed and turned back around, staring out into the landscape.
