Days of the End

Lazareth was not too convinced, but decided not to bother her again and looked back at Ivy. He wrapped his arm around her and smiled. "Nothing is going to come between us... Especialy not that man." he reasured her and hisself.

Akito laid down and stared at the sky, black and full of stars. She stared at it for a long time, just thinking and slowly closed her eyes, falling asleep.

Ivan seethed at the sight of Ivy with Lazereth--but then he got an idea...
His crafty eyes shifted to Akito, and he smiled.
Causally strolling over to her, he asked politely:
"May I sit with you?"

Akito's eyes flew open when she heard someone and a voice, and from instinct she quickly unsheathed her katana from her side and found herself with her blade to Ivan's throat. She swallowed hard and lowered it. "Ah...sorry..." she sheathed her sword and sat up, pulling her knees to her chest and sighing. 

Ivan chuckled in understanding:
"I know what it's like to be on the defense all the time--not to have anyone you can really trust--as well as no one to rely on."
Akito licked her lips, and said nothing.
"I can tell that Lazereth's new romance with Ivy makes you sad...can I guess why, or would you tell me?" Ivan smiled an assuring smile: "Of course I wish to help you--as well as comfort you."

Akito balled her hands into fists and her body tightened. She didn't look at him, "Help me at what exactly?" she mumbled.

Ivan laughed, trying to charm her out of her discomfort:
"Help you overcome rejection, as well as winning your best friend back..."
He paused for effect, and waited to hear Akito's answer

Akito glanced at him and sighed, relaxing a bit. "As much as I want to...I can't make Ivy and Lazareth seperate." she mumbled. "For one, they would never do it...and two..." she forced a little smile, "They're my friends and I just have to accept it..." she swallowed hard and looked away. 

Ivan huffed, as he leaned back on his hands, and stared at the stars.
"Some friends--they expect you to give out all the love you have, and yet..." He whispered for effect:"They give no love back...they push you out of their circle, along with the rest of the world they don't like," Ivan chuckled in irritation: "Like me for one."

Akito's eyes widened and she looked away so Ivan couldn't see the tears welling up in her eyes. Her friends DID love her...she knew that for a fact...or was it all an illusion? Akito bit her bottom lip.

Ivan smiled; he had Akito right where he wanted her...
He stroked his golden blonde hair, as he sighed:
"If I were you; I would do what was best for them--and, at this point, it MIGHT be separating them. You don't want them to become self-centered, do you?"

Akito huffed and spun around, looking at him straight in the face, glaring. "You're just doing this because you want Ivy all to yourself, don't you?!" she hissed, her face inches away from his and staring in his eyes. "You talk about THEM being self-centered look at yourself!"

Ivan chuckled, not at all loosing his cool.
"I'm a man who knows his goals," He shrugged: "And my goal happens to be PROTECTING what is RIGHTFULLY mine," Ivan smiled, clearly out of spite: "UNLIKE me; Lazereth's a double-crossing murderer, and you're a traitor," He pushed his face into hers: "YOU handed them over TO ME because you're JEALOUS of them--who's self-centered NOW?"
With that, he stood up, and walked away from the camp fire, and laid down; his cold eyes piercing Akito's the whole time.

Ivy could tell that Ivan had said some horribly spiteful things to Akito, so she went over to her, and whispered:
"What happened?"

Akito jumped, then glanced over at Ivy. "O-oh it's nothing!" she mumbled, laughing a little. "He was just...talking." Akito gave her a weak smile and shrugged. "Anyways, how are you doing?"

"I'm becoming upset that you're changing the subject," Ivy told her sternly, yet caringly. She placed her hands on Akito's shoulders and told her sweetly: "What's troubling you dear?"

Akito started crying and she put her head in her hands. "I-I'm sorry...I'm such a wretch!" she attempted to wipe away her tears but they just kept coming. "I betrayed you guys, and-and led Ivan here." Akito closed her eyes and waited to see what Ivy would do.

Ivy licked her lips; trying to think of something to say--all she could manage was:
"I see."

Akito swallowed hard and stood up, sheathing her sword. "I-I'm gonna go for a walk." she mumbled, turning around and leaving the campsite.

As Akito walked past Ivan (who appeared to be asleep) carefully opened his eyes, and saw that she was on the move.
He smiled; where WAS the pretty creature going at this time of night?
His smile widened: why not follow her to find out?
So, that's what he did.

Akito mumbled to herself while walking and glared, "I'm such an idiot to listen to that guy and fall in the trap! Sheesh why can't he just get over it and move on the stupid idiot!" she kicked dirt and then stopped. She was far away from the campsite now and it was pitch darkness around her. She groaned. "GREAT! JUST GREAT!" she glanced around and saw the campsite fire in the distance, but that gave her no direction on where she should go. Akito swallowed and then just sat down. "Ugh..."

Ivan watched her for a moment, and started feeling a little guilty...
It was obvious that she was lonely, and hurt--and he was using her.
He was being a jerk--but it was either be a living jerk, then a dead traitor.
"If you like," Ivan called out to her smugly: "This STUPID IDIOT will help you back to camp."

Akito glanced over and saw Ivan, then glared and stood up. "I can find my own way back to camp!" she started to walk, then gasped and tripped over a rock. She winced. "F-fine..." Akito got up and went over to him carefully, then grabbed onto his arm. "Let's go."

"Beautiful, yet clumsy," Ivan mused out loud as they slowly walked back to camp: "Interesting combination."
Akito said nothing; clearly she didn't want to have ANYTHING to do with this guy.
"Akito--I'm asking this because I'm curious; you're angry at me for not "getting over" Ivy, and yet you aren't "getting over" old wounds that remain unhealed by distrust," He looked into her eyes, with a strange sincerity in his: "Why do you expect me to do something you don't do yourself?"
